Obituary of Judith V. Quinn

Judith V. Quinn, who would have celebrated her 90th birthday September 22, of Woodbridge, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. Mrs. Quinn was born in Carteret to the late Rev. Dr. Charles and Helen (Elias) Vincze and had previously lived in the Magyar Reformed Church parsonage in Perth Amboy before moving to Woodbridge sixty-two years ago. She was a 1944 graduate of Perth Amboy High School. She also attended NY University, the Western College for Women in Oxford, Ohio and the NJ State Teachers College in Newark. Mrs. Quinn was a lifelong educator. During her forty-three year career in education, she taught from 1949 to 1959 in Metuchen at the Franklin and Campbell Schools. She went on to spend thirty-three years employed by the Woodbridge Township Board of Education as a teacher at School #11, after taking a brief period of time to stay at home with her two young children. Judith was a member of the Middlesex County NJEA and the Woodbridge Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Magyar Reformed Church of Perth Amboy, where she served as an elder on the church council. She was also a member of the Women's Guild, serving as secretary for many years. Judith was a teacher and superintendant of the church's Sunday School and taught Vacation Bible School for many years as well. She was also a member of the Calvin Hungarian Reformed Church of Woodbridge. While her children were growing up Mrs. Quinn was also a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church of Perth Amboy, where she served on the Mother's Guild and also taught Sunday School. Judith was a member the Woodbridge Seniors Club, serving there as secretary for several years. She lived a very full and active life. She enjoyed solving word puzzles, gardening, baking cookies, bird watching, animals, and traveling. She was an avid crafter and loved knitting, needlepoint, embroidery and pottery making. Judith truly loved children, and her greatest enjoyment in life came from teaching children and spending time with her own children. Judith was predeceased by her beloved husband, Barrington Quinn, in 1995. She is survived by her loving daughter, Alice Quinn of Woodbridge, and her loving son, Charles V. Quinn also of Woodbridge. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 9:30 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, Inc., 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. Followed by a 10:00 am service in the Magyar Reformed Church in Perth Amboy. Private cremation services will follow at the Rosehill Crematory in Linden. Visitation hours will be held Friday afternoon from 4pm to 8 pm at the funeral home. A Christian Wake Service will be at 7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
