Obituary of James J. Morgan

James J. Morgan, 78, of Fords, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016 at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home-LTC in Edison. Mr. Morgan was born in Perth Amboy to the late Frank and Edna (Ward) Morgan and had previously lived in Perth Amboy before moving to Fords forty-five years ago. Mr. Morgan was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed as a mechanic for Middlesex County for almost twenty years before his retirement. Prior to that he had been employed by Mauro Motors in Woodbridge for ten years. James was a very avid bowler, participating in many bowling leagues throughout the area. He was a very active member of his community, coaching in many local sports leagues including; Fords Bearcat Football, Fords Bearcat Softball, Fords-Clara Barton Baseball, Perth Amboy Babe Ruth Baseball, Perth Amboy Red Raiders Football and St. Peter's Basketball in Perth Amboy. He served as assistant scout master for the Sayreville Boy Scouts of America Troop 290 Melrose Hose Co. and was also a former volunteer member of the Fords Fire Co. #1. He enjoyed traveling to and spending time in Atlantic City. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Carole J. (Furdock) Morgan in 1991 and also by three brothers and one sister. Surviving are his son Robert Studva of Brick, his three daughters: Cindy Ratajczak and husband Thomas of Hopelawn, Cheryl Kjersgaard and husband Carl also of Hopelawn, and Carole L. Morgan and fiancée Michael Motyl of Perth Amboy, his brother Robert Morgan and wife Marilyn of Zephyrhills, FL, his sister Marie Woetko of Brick, five grandchildren TJ and Samantha Ratajczak, Carly Kjersgaard and Anthony and Joseph Studva and also many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday 10:00 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, Inc., 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. Interment will follow in the Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery in Woodbridge. Visitation hours will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
