Obituary of Florence H. Wantuch

Florence Wantuch, 88, died peacefully on June 2, 2021, in Rockleigh, NJ. She had been a resident of Fords for over 60 years prior to moving to Bergen County in 2017. Born in Keasbey, she graduated from Woodbridge High School. She married Ferdinand (Fred) Wantuch of Hopelawn in 1952. They moved to Fords in 1957 where they built a home on Woodland Avenue together. Florence worked for Chanel Inc. in Piscataway for more than 25 years, retiring in 1993. Fred died in 2016 in Fords. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Hopelawn. Florence was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Anna Hertneky, her sisters Elizabeth Sabo and Anne, Helen, and Margaret Hertneky. She is survived by her three children, Karen Wantuch Cowell and husband Michael Adamich of Charlotte, NC, Ken of River Vale, and Craig and wife Joan of Norwood, three grandchildren (Daniel Cowell, Michael Cowell, and William Wantuch), and four great-grandchildren (Dylan, Emily, Grant, and Jackson Cowell). Florence was devoted to the care of her family. She enjoyed needle arts and cooking Hungarian cuisine. During her retirement she spent many hours developing recipes that featured produce grown in Fred's bountiful garden. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Church of Jesus Christ Cemetery in Fords. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) in her memory.
