Obituary of Violet P. Katona

Violet P. Katona, 92, of South Amboy, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Venetian Care & Rehabilitation Center in South Amboy. Mrs. Katona was born in Leicester, England to the late Charles and Nellie Smith Holohan. She came to the United States in 1946 and had previously lived in Fords, Hopelawn, Perth Amboy and Woodbridge before moving to South Amboy. Violet was a veteran of the British Women's Royal Air Force of WW II. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady Of Peace RC Church, Fords. Violet was predeceased by her husband Albert Katona in 2003, four brothers Albert, Dennis, Leonard and Leslie Holohan, and a sister, Kathleen Murray. She is survived by her son. Gregory Katona and his wife Teresa of Jamesburg, two daughters, Judith Bobrowski and her husband Thomas of Perth Amboy, and Patricia Zipf and her husband James of Jamesburg, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday 9:00 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, Inc., 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. Followed by a 9:30 am mass in the Good Shepherd Parish - Holy Rosary Church, Hopelawn. Interment will follow in the Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery in Fords.
