Obituary of Joseph W. Sabatino

Joseph W. Sabatino, 80, of Hopelawn, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. Mr. Sabatino was born in Newark to the late Anthony and Tille Sabatino and had lived in Hopelawn for the last 52 years. Joseph was employed as a chief mechanic by Burry's Biscuit in Elizabeth for forty-five years before retiring in 1998. He was a member of Good Shepherd Parish - Most Holy Rosary Church where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Avenel Knights of Columbus Council #5088, and of the Fords-Keasbey Senior Citizens Club. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Diana "Joan" (Kunkel) Sabatino , his two sons: Joseph W. Sabatino Jr. and wife Ann of Chesapeake , VA and Adam A. Sabatino of Hopelawn, his four daughters: Donna Marie Wilson of Tampa, FL, Carol J. Hirchen and husband Albert of Plainsboro, Karen D. Thomas and husband Scott of Monroe and Michelle Sabatino of Hopelawn, and also three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 9:00 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, Inc., 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. Followed by a 9:30 am mass in the Good Shepherd Parish-Most Holy Rosary RC Church in Hopelawn. Interment will follow in the Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery in Woodbridge. Visitation hours will be held Monday from 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Parish, 625 Florida Grove Rd. Hopelawn NJ 08861.
