Obituary of Richard James Harbstreet

Richard James Harbstreet, 50, of Poughkeepsie, NY , succumbed to injuries caused by a lightning strike, passing away Saturday, August 13, 2016, at the Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Mr. Harbstreet was born September 26, 1965 in Perth Amboy and was raised in Fords and had lived in Poughkeepsie for the last five years. Richard was an accomplished freelance artist, leaving behind countless works of art to be enjoyed by many as a remembrance and symbol of his unique personality and style. He was a respected member of the community, who will be missed for his sense of humor, kind heart and talent. He was predeceased by his father Richard J Gaglia and also by his sister Deborah Harbstreet. Surviving are his son: Richard Decker of Cape May, his mother Jean (Grimley) Harbstreet of Loch Arbour, NJ his brother: David Harbstreet and wife Colleen(DeLisi) of Hillsborough, his two sisters: April Hrasna and husband James of Iselin, and Jaime Harbstreet of Neptune Township, his aunt Christine Grimley and also his nephews Ronald DeSantis, Sean Harbstreet and Ryan Harbstreet. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday 9:00 am at the Our Lady Of Peace RC Church in Fords. Interment of cremains will take place at a later date at the Rosedale Cemetery in Linden. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Jersey Shore Rescue, 701 Memorial Dr. Asbury Park NJ. 07712.
