Obituary of Lucy Matyi Wolcott

Lucy Matyi Wolcott, 94, of Edison, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at JFK Haven Hospice in Edison. Mrs. Wolcott was born in Yonkers, NY to the late John and Maria Celio Chiavarini and had lived all of her life in Edison. Lucy was employed by Veterans Memorial Home in Menlo Park as a food service supervisor for fifteen years before retiring in 1983. She had also been employed part-time by the JFK Medical Center in Edison. Mrs. Wolcott was one of the founding members of the Clara Barton American Legion Post 324. She was predeceased by her first husband Steven Matyi in 1979 and by her second husband John Wolcott in 2004. She was also predeceased by her brothers Rocco, Tony and Dominic Chiavarini and her sister Frances DeCarlo. She is survived by her loving children: Mary Lou Amaczi of Sayreville, JoAnne Karecki of New Haven, CT, and Steven W. Matyi of Edison and by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2016, 10:30 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, Inc., 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery in Metuchen. Visitation hours will be held Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Clara Barton First Aid Squad.
