Obituary of John M. Hornyak

John M. Hornyak, Jr., 68, of Edison, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the J.F.K. Medical Center in Edison. Mr. Hornyak was born in Perth Amboy to the late John M. and Helen Hornyak Sr. and had lived all of his life in Edison. Mr. Hornyak was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War serving as a Gunner's Mate on the USS Leahy. John was employed by the Edison Board of Education as a head custodian in the school district for twenty-two years before his retirement. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace RC Church and also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9199, Our Lady of Peace. He is survived by his loving wife of fifteen years, Sharon Andrews Hornyak, and by his brother: Robert J. Hornyak of Edison. Funeral services will be held Friday 8:30 pm at the Mitruska Funeral Home, Inc., 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. Private cremation services will follow. Visitation hours will be held Friday evening from 7-9 pm.
