Obituary of Steve Katko

Steve Katko, 89, of Woodbridge, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at his home. Mr. Katko was born in Lorain, OH to the late Steve and Julia Palfe Katko and had previously lived in Perth Amboy before he moving to Woodbridge fifty seven years ago.

Mr. Katko was a US Army Veteran of WW II war.

He was employed as an electrician for Chevron Oil State St. Perth Amboy for forty years before retiring in 1990. Steve was a member of the Magyar "Hungarian" Reformed Church, Perth Amboy and was a former Elder with the Church.

Mr. Katko was predeceased by his wife Frances Katko in 2009, and two brothers Albert and Nick Katko.

He is survived by his sister, Theresa M. Marczi of Fords, two beloved cousin, Anne Kohanski of Eldersburg, MD. and Teresa Breda of Fairfax, VA. his devoted companion, Frances Schonberger and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday 10:30 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, Inc., 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords, followed by an 11:00 am service in the Magyar "Hungarian" Reformed Church, Perth Amboy. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Hopelawn. Visitation hours will be held Sunday from 1 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. A Christian wake service will be held 3:30 pm Sunday at the Funeral Home.
